EAM European Animation Masterclass
The European advanced training initiative for new animation

The European Animation Masterclass is one of the most successful initiatives of the International Academy of Media and Arts e.V. and has been held in Halle (Saale) since 2005.

This advanced training program enables participants from all over Europe to gather practical international contacts in a very close and intensively tutored collaboration with national and international experts.

Initially, the training programme of several months was identical for young talents, university graduates and participants with initial professional experience. Following the analysis of the requirements of the animation industry the EAM was differentiated to include special offers for graduates and students (EAMgraduate) and those with professional experience (EAMprofessional) respectively.

Under the guidance of experienced animation experts, the EAMprofessional focuses in detail on the individual production phases and their particularities in creating an animation film. The workshops are aimed at young professionals, animation professionals, filmmakers, artists as well as the so-called “Next Generation”. In doing so, we want to promote crossgenre exchange and invite – apart from representatives of the animation industry – also the “border crossers” among the filmmakers to open up to the animation genre (e. g. animation in documentaries or live action movies).

As a participant, you bring your own ideas, concepts and projects to the workshop and benefit directly from the exchange with other participants, personal discussions with our experts or from intensive group work in concrete case studies. This network provides an ideal environment in which to examine ideas with regard to their feasibility, develop contacts, stimulate collaboration and discover new perspectives for perhaps becoming a border crosser yourself.
